ĀRA is a Saudi brand that celebrates heritage and the long history of sandals. We draw our inspiration from the Mediterranean civilizations that truly developed sandals, the Greeks and the Romans. Variations of their beautiful creations have survived for millennia as a testament to the timelessness of their designs. Our sandals are modern adaptations of those very prototypes that maximized for functionality while paying great attention to form.

ĀRA was brought to life by our founder’s passion for these timeless pieces:

“I’ve always been drawn to these types of sandals. They are very edgy and versatile. Every time I saw them, I couldn’t resist buying a pair. On a trip to Greece in the summer of 2017, I found myself surrounded by so many wonderful designs that I ended up with a bag full of them. I gifted some to my loved ones and kept the rest. They quickly became my go-to footwear for daily life. However, while I admired the simplicity and timelessness of the
designs, I noticed that the finishing and material quality could be improved.”

This realization was probably the first ember that sparked the creation of ĀRA, a brand committed to preserving the core ideas of simplicity and functionality behind these sandals. While equally committed to elevating them with exquisite materials, a refined color palette and meticulous attention to detail.

At ĀRA, we handcraft exquisite pieces, where each pair promises, the best materials, exceptional craftsmanship and comfort for the practical woman who values timeless elegance and a clean aesthetic.

The name "ĀRA" meaning "to adorn and beautify" in Farsi was chosen to honor the brand's mission to create the best version of these sandals.

  • rely solely on vegetable-tanned leather which is tanned using this traditional method, which is slower but environmentally safe. This process allows our sandals to age beautifully and develop a natural patina over time.
